An NYC Summer

An NYC Summer is a nostalgic journey capturing the feeling and vibes of a New York summer through music, photography, and film — built as an immersive, multi-sensory experience spanning events, short films, gallery spaces, food, and tangible objects like a keychain with an NFC chip.

It's both a love letter and a rebellion — an exploration of what's easy to dislike about New York, and exactly why that tension makes you love it even more. Rooted in the Bronx, reaching across every borough.

The project lives across 8 playlists, each carrying a distinct story and season. Vol. I is June, Vol. II is July, Vol. III is August — the final breath of summer. Spin-offs extend into alternative rock, electronic music, a winter edition, and a reggaeton playlist honoring New Yorkrican culture.

A Bronx Anime is the visual arm — reminiscent of 90's anime, with the long-term vision of bringing it to life through animation. Original characters, original world. The Bronx as a universe.

Vol. I
The year is 2020. You're at the Orchard Beach parking lot waiting in line for a cherrycocomangorainbow. You pick tamarindo. A Honda Civic pulls up fresh from the local hydrant car wash. Music plays and the subwoofer vibrates the windows. Life is good.

Vol. II
It's Summer 2023. You tear your achilles playing ball. On crutches with a rainbow icee in hand. Lunch at the far end of City Island and Limewire sessions at Bronx Brewery. Your crutches become limbo sticks on the boat cruise. The streets are calling. Welcome to Volume II.
(Vol. III — August)
An NYC Summer
Vol. III
Last week of August. The fireworks are over, it's time to leave the beach parking lot. The tungsten lights of the Cross Bronx illuminate Tio Hector's 2004 CRV. A/C doesn't work. You finish your nutcracker. It's not a goodbye — it's a see you next time. *Welcome to the Bronx.*

Crowds, humidity, and a cracked phone screen. Gov Ball, Van's Warped Tour, or the basement of First Lutheran Church. The plan didn't work out. Neither does this Rock Band 2 disk. The Sidekick slide was underrated. thx 4 the mmrs.

4 the "Close Friends" that got me home after a bender at Locksmith. "DAT plees hol" instead of the uber. Before the uptown cabs claimed the iconic color. Y la música perfecta para volar tus altavoces en el Honda Civic.

The Brooklyn Mirage was never going to be done on time. Ezoo not happening in the Bronx is a missed opportunity. This playlist is built for a rave in a Chinatown mall or under a bridge between Queens and Brooklyn.

A Bronx Anime
Set in a living, breathing Bronx across a layered timeline — early-2000s nostalgia, gritty modern day, and a stylized alternate 2025. The city itself is a character.

Timbs, a Baby Phat puffer, and a 5-foot phantom puddle made from melted slush. Warm up the car for 15 min before cuffing season. Split a wonton soup from the corner spot. The Met has date nights on Thursdays. You would love it.
